Capture The Dream- Adopt a Family 2011

This past weekend, Vivo was able to participate in the annual Capture the Dream- Adopt a Family program for the 2nd time. We were given a few weeks to shop for the necessities that the family needed and delivered the gifts to them in San Leandro. Even though only the mother of the family could attend yesterday’s gift giving, it was still an amazing experience to see the warm smile on her face as she opened a few gifts. Here are just a few photos to share.

This was such a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to help again next year. If you’d like to participate in Capture the Dream’s Adopt a Family, visit their website and “like” their Facebook Page to stay updated on the most recent events that you can get involved in!

Vivo Sponsors the 2nd Annual CIO Scholarship Charity Golf Tournament

We were happy to help sponsor the 2nd Annual CIO Scholarship Charity Golf Tournament  on August 26th, 2011.   A fun event, our golfers Michael Parish, Anthony Dal Canto, and Sandra Brown enjoyed the festivities as well.

Big thanks to the CIO College Scholarship Board, for hosting such a fun event. We were pleased to learn that the event was so successful, and that between the tournament and their marathon, the charity collected and can now distribute over $100K to local colleges through their existing scholarship programs managed by the individual universities.   These monies go to under privileged kids seeking an education in technology at local colleges and universities.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

In perfect Vivo style, we celebrated our 5-year anniversary with clients, employees and supporters on August 11th with a Carnival-themed party that will not be soon forgotten.

The beautiful August night proved to be a perfect backdrop for the delicious gourmet food trucks, the carnival games, stilt walker, contortionist and of course the ever-popular photo booth.  We are grateful to our landlord for letting us transform the parking lot and turn it into our party playground.

Thank you to all who came out to celebrate with us. Hope you enjoy a few pictures. See you at our next party!

Getting Strategic with your organization.

Every quarter, Silicon Valley Network and Infrastructure executives get together in an informal setting to network and discuss real-world problems that are common to the group. Yesterday, we were privileged to host another SVNiE luncheon.

During the meeting we welcomed Bill Chan, a Vivo partner, as he facilitated a discussion on The Strategic IT Organization: Optimizing Your Team For Business Success . Bill has implemented his proven methodology at numerous Silicon Valley-area companies, and we knew this would be a highly interactive session.

Participants shared common issues such as how to handle situations when you are asked to deliver more with less or when your CFO announces the edict to “cut all contractors”.

But what happens when you really don’t have the ability to cut these individuals? The issues and risks associated with maxing out the team when contractors are already placed in key roles persisted throughout the discussion as participants expressed a desire for insights and examples. Bill and the group walked through scenarios for proactively addressing these issues and the importance of managing up, as appropriate. He sent everyone away with some simple checklists for making immediate strides.

All in all another great SVNiE event. We remain proud of our involvement and excited to underwrite this important group!
